Talented University students in IT and/or Technical engineering, this is an opportunity to write a thesis on frictionless authentication of users in a regulated pharma production industry.
Conducting a feasibility study of solutions internally and on the market for frictionless authentication of users.
The Thesis study would include the following deliverables
- Assess solutions on the market vs regulatory requirements
- Determine the level of authentication required
- User requirement specification
- Recommendation of solution
- Develop Business case
You are a master student in any of these areas Science/Engineering/IT/IS
You have very good ability to express yourself in both Swedish as well as in English language.
You are interested in modern technologies and embrace innovative thinking.
You have good knowledge of Microsoft's operating system, databases, and computer hardware and network understanding. General knowledge of HMI, SCADA and PLC which is the production systems in pharma industries is another area you are aware of.
You are used to work independently and not afraid of taking the lead and to drive the work forward to completion but also used to working in teams and have the ability to establish good relationships.
You have a good analytical ability, you analyze problems and draw logical conclusions based on relevant information and present this in a clear and results-oriented way.

Sweden Operations has 1600 systems with diversified connection solutions, some systems are connected to Active directory and Product Information Systems and others are standalone systems. Standalone systems require user administration at the location and the AD connected systems can be accessed remotely.
Operators in the factory have access to several systems with different login credentials, they often forget their password and uses the emergency accounts. This affects time back to production and increases the workload for support functions to reset password on location and create a new emergency account.
With a frictionless authentication the users would not need the emergency accounts as frequently and this would save cost and time for the administrations of emergency accounts and minimize stop time in production. The thesis work is to evaluate what technical solution would be possible to implement in a regulated production environment for pharmaceutical products.
Siemens and other suppliers have solution that needs to be looked into,
Alternative solution would be the one at AZ Cambridge site. AZ Cambridge site has been looking at frictionless authentication by using Bluetooth from an authenticated smartphone and ping ID. Other technologies could be biometric eye scanner/ fingerprints as logon credentials. This thesis study would investigate different solutions and recommend which one would be suitable and compliant with regulatory requiremetns for wider usage by a pharma company to use.
